Black Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Alumna Nasha Thomas (Schmitt)

Director of Arts-in-Education and Community Outreach
ALVIN AILEY AMERICAN DANCE THEATRE

After dancing on the Texas Stadium sidelines in 1982, former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Nasha Thomas (Schmitt) was a principal dancer in the world-renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre.  Nasha spent 12 years touring with the prestigious dance troupe.  She received rave reviews for her performances in Ailey's "Cry" and "Revelations."

Nasha is currently Ailey's director of arts-in-education and community outreach, presiding over projects such as Ailey Camp and AileyDance Kids.  In this role, she serves America's youth by offering public school students a significant opportunity to stretch their intellectual, creative, social and academic skills in response to the demands and discipline of dance.

Thomas Schmitt directs the company's national tours, where dancers serve not only as performers, but as teachers and role models to thousands of children, adults and community leaders each year.
